DoY Meet-Up: Effective Science Communication workshop – Feb 11

For our next Dynamics of Youth (DoY) Meet-Up, we will be given an effective science communcation workshop by DoY’s newest postdoc, Alexandra Masciantonio from the Becoming Adults in a Changing World (BACW) community. Afterwards, we will provide drinks and snacks with space to network and connect with our communities.

The workshop will focus on enhancing effective science communication skills for researchers by exploring different types of formats, from dissemination to dialogue and participation. Participants will plan their own science communication activities, taking into account audience needs, available resources, and personal preferences. Key challenges such as audience engagement, content creation, and institutional support will be addressed, with an emphasis on practical solutions. Please note that the workshop will not delve deeply into each topic, but useful resources will be provided at each stage.

Alexandra Masciantonio is currently a postdoctoral researcher at Utrecht University within the Becoming Adults in a Changing World community. She holds a PhD in social psychology from the University of Lorraine (France) and was previously a postdoctoral researcher at Maastricht University. Her research focuses on how citizens use social media from a cross-platform perspective, i.e., comparing the use of several social media. She is particularly interested in how social media usage affects young people’s mental health. Alexandra is also dedicated to public engagement, with the ambition of fostering exchanges between research and citizens.

You’re welcome to attend either one or both parts of the event.

Each month, one of the communities acts as host. This DoY Meet-Up is hosted by the Becoming Adults in a Changing World (BACW) community.
